Goldfilled Findings Goldfilled (GF) is a legal definition regulated by the Federal Trade Commission.
Goldfilled pieces are made by mechanically applying a layer of 10 or higher karat gold to the surface of a base metal. (Our goldfilled findings are 12K GF or 14K GF, rather arbitrarily) The gold part of a goldfilled piece must constitute at least 1/20th (5%) of the weight of the piece. Goldfilled pieces generally look and wear close to solid karat gold.
